Staining & Wood Restoration For Nevada Sun
Decks, fences, doors, cabinets, beams and more. We bring worn wood back to life with stains and sealers that protect against sun, snow and moisture.
Bare wood in Northern Nevada greys out fast. UV breaks down the surface fibers, the wind drives grit into them, and then snowmelt soaks into a surface that no longer sheds water. Once that starts, stain will not hold on it.
Restoration is the real work: strip the failed coating, sand the fuzz off, neutralize and brighten the wood, and only then apply a stain that can penetrate. Done this way a deck looks new again and holds its finish for years instead of one season.

How We Work
Our Preparation Process
Assess and test
We check moisture content, how much old coating remains, and whether boards or fasteners need replacement before quoting.
Strip and clean
Failed stain and sealer are stripped, and mildew, tannin and grey fiber are cleaned off with a wood-safe cleaner.
Brighten and neutralize
A brightener restores the wood pH after stripping — the step most crews skip, and the reason so many stain jobs blotch.
Sand
Decking, railings and handrails are sanded to remove raised grain and leave a surface that accepts stain evenly and is smooth underfoot.
Repair
Split boards replaced, popped nails set or swapped for screws, loose railings re-secured.
Dry down
The wood must reach the right moisture content before staining. We test rather than guess.
Stain and seal
Applied by brush, pad or sprayer with back-brushing so the stain is worked into the wood, not laid on top of it.
Why Homeowners Choose Us
- Grey, splintered wood looks new again without replacement

Our Quality Standards
- Brightener applied after every strip, without exception
- Moisture tested before the first coat goes on

Common Questions
Staining Services FAQs
How often should a deck be re-stained?
In our climate, horizontal decking every two to three years and vertical rails and fences every four to five. Maintenance coats are far cheaper than another full restoration.
Can you change the color?
Going darker is straightforward. Going lighter requires stripping and sanding first, which we will quote honestly.
Do you stain new wood?
Yes, after it has dried out. New pressure-treated lumber typically needs several weeks to release moisture before it will accept stain.
